Sample Course Plans

At UConn, course structures vary depending on the subject and format. Some classes meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for 50 minutes, while others meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Science courses often include labs, which may be integrated or scheduled as separate sessions. Class sizes also range widely—from large lectures with 200–300+ students to smaller, more intimate settings. Most courses carry 3–4 credits.

IMPORTANT NOTES: The Director meets individually with each post-bacc student to develop a personalized course plan tailored to their interests and academic needs. While the sample plans provide a typical example, individual course plans can vary significantly based on each student’s background, goals, and preparation. Each student will take our year-long (1-credit each semester) Post-Bacc Seminar, created and taught by Dr. Scheidel exclusively for students in the program.

Most courses in these sample plans are prerequisites and should be completed before taking the MCAT or DAT. While not required, completing ENGL is strongly recommended prior to either exam. Because prerequisites can vary by medical, dental, and PA programs, students should consult program websites and other online resources to ensure any additional requirements are included in their course plan.
