At UConn, we are committed to supporting our post-baccalaureate students throughout every step of the professional school application process. From the moment you join the program, our office provides individualized guidance, resources, and hands-on preparation to help you build a competitive and authentic application.
How We Support You:
- Personalized Advising: Dr. Scheidel meets with each post-bacc student regularly to develop an individualized application timeline and to provide strategic advice on school selection, coursework, and application preparation.
- Application Preparation Seminar: As part of the Post-Bacc Seminar, you will complete key components of your application, including your personal statement, activities section, and interview preparation, with structured feedback throughout the year.
- Applicant Coaching & Letter Packet Process: Our office has a comprehensive applicant support process, which includes completion of the Health Professions Applicant Portfolio (HPAP), 45-minute Applicant Coaching Session, and collection of your individual letters of recommendation. Specifically, we coordinate the submission of letter packets, which include all of your individual letters of recommendation bundled and sent together to professional schools. Learn more about our applicant support and letter packet process here.
- Workshops & Peer Review: Post-bacc students have access to workshops on personal statement writing, activity descriptions, interview skills, and more. You will also have opportunities for peer-to-peer feedback on application materials in a supportive, collaborative environment.
- Ongoing Support: We continue to advise and advocate for you throughout your application cycle, whether you are applying while in the program or after completing your coursework. We offer check-ins, support letters for updates or deferrals, and assistance with school-specific questions or decisions.
- Additional Resources: Post-bacc students have access to many of the resources available through UConn’s Pre-Professional Advising Office, including timeline planning, application guides, and workshops listed here.
