Prerequisites for Applicants

• Generally, a competitive undergraduate GPA is 3.50 or better for the Pivot Track and 3.25 or better for the Elevate Track
  • These are guidelines, not hard cutoffs. We have interviewed and accepted students below these GPAs when we can understand the context of their academic record, see strong motivation for pursuing a health profession, and believe they have the potential to be successful in rigorous STEM coursework.
• Documented history of community service
• Documented experience in relevant health care fields (e.g. shadowing, volunteering, paid work, etc…)

The UConn Post-Baccalaureate Program is very selective. The Post-Baccalaureate Program assesses applicants using a holistic review methodology, so that all aspects of a candidate’s history are considered. Successful applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to the community (evidenced by a history of community service activities) and must have a strong understanding of their respective health professional goal, evinced through activities such as volunteer experience, shadowing experience, or work activities in private practice, clinic, or hospital settings.

Completion of all requirements for a baccalaureate degree must be from an accredited college or university. Applicants may also apply while in their final year of a bachelor’s program. Historically, the most successful post-baccalaureate applicants have initiated their post-baccalaureate studies at least a year after completing their initial baccalaureate degree.
